Many of you may be asking yourselves, my computer is slow how can I speed it up? The answer to this question can really be as complex or as simple as you would like it to be.
I say this because often times it’s the simple things that get overlooked. Over time, computers slow down. The people who use them tend to install every ‘cool’ program under then sun. The use the program once and then never end up using it again.
When a program is installed on a computer, there are several resources that it has to use. Let’s take a quick look at what actually happens when a program is installed on a computer. First, there are files that have got to be copied to your hard drive. Second, most programs insert registry settings that are specific to that program.Third, many programs will install a service or process that will start when your computer boots up and then continue to run in the background. These are the three main things that happens when a computer program is installed.
Rebooting Will Help Get My Computer To Run Faster
So you might be asking yourself the question what do having programs I don’t ever use have anything to do with trying to get my computer to run faster?
Good question. Let me answer it for you.
Lets go back to the three things I pointed out to you in the paragraph above.
The result of the first thing I stated is that valuable hard drive space is being consumed. You may come back and say well I have a 500GB hard drive, so that really doesn’t matter. Well, the truth is that yes it does. The more files you have on your hard drive the better chance it has at becoming more unorganized and the longer it will take for your computer to find files on the hard drive.
The second point talks about registry settings being added. Think of the computer registry as ‘the brains’ of the operation. As the registry gets bigger or more bloated over time, the slower your computer will become. Even if you go in and uninstall a lot of applications you do not use, there will still be a lot of registry entries that are not cleaned out. This is when a reputable registry cleaner comes in handy.
A Good Registry Clean Will Help Provide Long-Term Speed For Your Computer
The third point from above mentions that programs could install services or have processes that run in the background while your computer is running. These processes demand processor time and memory. So the more processes you have running in the background, the less computer resources you have. Its really as simple as that.
If you have been asking yourself lately why my computer is slow and what can I do about it, then you may want to start by getting the programs you don’t used cleaned up off of your computer. This is a great starting point for someone who has a computer slowing down and doesn’t know what to do about it.
